I feel like being social, So heres a question.
I need to decide what characters to keep and what characters to douse in fuel, light on fire and chuck off a cliff. I'm a PvE player, but I'd like to have one or two PvP characters so I can farm factions. I do not want PvP only characters because then if I want to use them in PvE, I can't. So they are all PvE in the beginning.
My main is a Warrior and is a keeper. I also have a monk, necro and a ele for farming that need to be leveled and built. I have a ranger, ritualist, paragon and dervish on the back burner who also need to be leveled and built. So my question is, in your opinion, what are the benefits of these characters for farming or pvp? Should I toss one or two and replace with a mesmer and assassin? Paragon. Is this profession good for anything other than running a group of heroes? Does this profession do well as a farming character or a pvp character? Should I drop it for a mesmer or an assassin? Ranger. Aside from running is this profession good for farming or pvp? I know trappers are annoying pvp builds but is it worth the slot it takes up? Dervish. A good runner, aside from that, farming or pvp? I'v leveled this dude up to 20 but havnt really spent any plat on him, so deletion wouldnt kill me. Ritualist. Looks cool and has neat skills, but really, what is this character good for outside bonding, if that build is even still useable. Should I toss this profession for an assassin? I got about 2 months left before those characters get a birthday present, then I can initiate cliff chuck and remake. I kinda like the ranger and dervish but I am trying to find out which of the four classes could or should be replaced with an assassin and mesmer. I'd like to use my other characters for more than just birthday mini farming. Thanks for any and all replies. This thread is for discussion, I'd rather have a nice discussion rather than spend 10+ hours on wiki. PS: Due to having many, many bills and expenses, I can not afford the 20 bucks to buy 2 additional character slots, Hence the discussion. |

Rits can farm feathers, and the cost is deeply rising, so I'd keep him. Necros are fun to play, and hexes can devastate in PvP.

Worth keeping imo :
For pvp : ranger for farming : ritualist ( 330H vk), maybe dervish Paragon is pretty useless for pvp or farming, but can be good for general pve (imbagon) mesmer and assassin are very good for farming in group (high end dungons) mesmer is better in pvp my 2 cents Last edited by poppu16; Jun 13, 2009 at 08:43 PM // 20:43.. |

I farm on my Dervish. Works quite well - you can do 55-style farming with them very easily, and the last few days I've made a bit of a killing feather farming with my Dervish.

Para's are only really good at PvE so....I would chuck the paragon.

This meta in GvG (if you play that) has some role for paragons. They play 'the power is yours' or in hexheavy-matches empathic removal, while assisting in spikes.
In PvE it depends. You can run imbagon like everyone does. I change it with cruel spear paragons and motivation based paragons. But I play mostly in a guildteam where there's no need for stick-to-what-everyone-does builds to succeed (or not be flamed against ). Last edited by Faure; Jun 13, 2009 at 09:39 PM // 21:39.. |

Dervishs are somewhat useless compared to an assassin. Yeah the dervish weapon is pretty cool but with a critical scythe assassin you will do more damage then a regular dervish and have more fun. Rangers are alright for Pvp so if you are looking into becoming a pvper then keep him. Paragon pretty much has no point at all (IMO). Not very great for pvp or pve. Ritualists are really cool and have a few good farming spots. But if you are just keeping it for a general pve then its not worth keeping. They aren't the good healers (compared to monks) and dont have a good DPS (compared to an ele)

Thank you very much, everyone, for the replies. I will hold off until I hear more opinions on this matter before making a choice.
I figure my set up will be like this. my warrior is my have fun character. 4-5 farming characters, so I can farm different spots. 2-3 pvp characters for farming factions (to gain benefits towards pve. lol) thanks again for all the replies! Keep them coming! So far I am leaning towards chucking the paragon and replacing it with a sin. Which leave the ranger, dervish and ritualist and to decide if I need to drop one and take on a mesmer. I'm also considering keeping the ritualist, depending on how good their ability to farm something valuable is. I guess I need to figure out which is more valuable and useful, the ranger or the dervish. And if a mesmer would be a better choice than one of the others. Thanks again! The Dervish must Die
I have one and they are the most useless class. They're fun to play as sometimes though. |

If they are the most "useless" how come they are sometimes fun? They most certainly aren't the most useless class, just like every other class...

Ok, So which is better for pvp and farming and running, which runs missions easier. Which one should I keep and which one should I chuck? -And is a mesmer an improvment over either of them?

pve is dominated bye sins monk and mesmers for farming. while very slow you could do phsyway for many high end areas. However most people don't do them. It is more for a once in awhile just to shake the boat kind of thing. I know there are phsyway builds for fow uw deep urgoz ravens point and frostmaws just off the top of my head. I would have to look through my team build templates though for more. Which I am sure there are.

Whichever characters you are not having fun playing, delete. It doesn't matter how efficient or inefficient something is, if you enjoy playing the profession, you'll regret deleting it - but if you are getting bored with it, deletion and recreation at a later date is viable.
Later, once you get your bills sorted out, spend the 20 bucks for 2 more slots.

Yea, I'm dropping the paragon and ranger for an assassin and mesmer. Thanks for all the suggestions.
